Welcome to JAMP
Letter from the Chair
The Joint Admission Medical Program (JAMP), created by the Texas Legislature in 2001, provides economically disadvantaged students interested in becoming physicians guidance, training, experience, and support. In addition, scholarships are available to each student from the time they are accepted into JAMP until they graduate from medical school, provided they maintain the necessary academic and personal requirements.
The first undergraduate students joined the JAMP program in 2003. The first class of JAMP mentored and sponsored students began medical school in the fall of 2006. We now have representatives from this program entering residency programs in the summer of 2010.
I encourage you to investigate this unique and wonderful program. The qualifications for acceptance, application process, important deadlines, and a wealth of additional information can be found in the Student Section.
If you are interested in pursuing medicine as a profession, JAMP provides mentoring, summer didactic and clinical experiences at Texas medical schools, a guaranteed position in a Texas medical school upon successful completion of the JAMP Program, and an opportunity to give back to Texas communities. The next step is to see if you meet the requirements. We invite all who qualify to apply.
Thank you for your interest in JAMP.
