Search Firm Selected for U.T. Chancellor Search

(AUSTIN) Donald L. Evans, chairman of the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System, today announced that the firm of Korn/Ferry International had been selected to assist the Board to identify and screen candidates for the position of Chancellor of the U.T. System. William H. Cunningham, Chancellor of the U.T. System since 1992, announced in June that he would leave the position by August 31, 2000, to pursue other interests.

Korn/Ferry was selected following a review of responses to a request for proposals for executive search firm assistance solicited in July and announced electronically through the Texas Marketplace. Korn/Ferry has assisted in other University of Texas executive searches, including the recent searches at The University of Texas at Austin, The University of Texas at San Antonio, and The University of Texas at Tyler. Mr. R. William Funk, the Managing Director of Korn/Ferry's Dallas-based education practice, will personally oversee the service contract with the Board of Regents. The contract price is $90,000 plus expenses and administrative costs.

As announced at the Board's August 12 meeting in Galveston, the Board will conduct a national search for Cunningham's replacement and is committed to receiving public input on the search. A special Web site for search updates and receipt of public comments will be accessible through www.utsystem.edu by September 1.
