Scott Caven, Jr., chairman of The University of Texas System Board of Regents, issued the following statement today (May 9) regarding the appointment of Benjamin Dower of Austin, an undergraduate student at UT Dallas, as the next student regent on the Board. AUSTIN – The University of Texas System today (March 20) launched a revamped Web site aimed at helping inform students, parents and others about accessing and paying for college. The updated site also includes campus proposals for tuition and fees at UT System institutions planned for the next two academic years. The expanded Web site (www.utsystem.edu/affordability) contains information and resource links on financial aid, how tuition is used, campus cost-saving initiatives and how to pay for college, among other things. EDINBURG – The distribution rate for The Permanent University Fund (PUF) for fiscal year 2009 was increased from 4.75 percent to 5.0 percent by the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System following a review of the current distribution policy.
The action, taken today (Feb. 7) at a meeting of the Board, does not represent a permanent change in the payout percentage. Instead, it provides guidance to the Board as it conducts its annual review of the distribution policy of the PUF. Read the release

AUSTIN – The appointment of members of a presidential search advisory committee to advise The University of Texas System Board of Regents on the selection of a president for UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas was announced today (Nov. 8) by Regents’ Chairman James R. Huffines. The committee will make recommendations to the Board on possible successors to President Kern Wildenthal, M.D., who announced Oct. 9 his plans to step down as president of the institution in September 2008.
