Policy Review Process Guidelines

The policy review process is designed to provide a regular opportunity for careful consideration of each policy adopted by System Administration. Please consider the following kinds of questions as you review your policy:

  • Is the policy necessary? Have the goals the policy was intended to foster been met? Have the circumstances or considerations that led to development of the policy changed or evolved? Is the subject matter of the policy now covered by a Regents’ Rule, or by statute or regulation?
  • Is the policy serving its intended purpose? Assuming the policy is still necessary, is it achieving the desired goals as currently written? Do any of the terms of the policy, including its procedures, need modification?
  • Is additional consultation necessary? Does your office need more information to answer any of the questions above? What are the perspectives within your own office regarding the policy in question? What are the views of other System Administration Offices and/or UT Institutions involved in implementation or enforcement of the policy? Have you considered the views of others within the UT System community who are likely to be affected by the policy, or who might otherwise be interested in it?
