Executive Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs Kenneth I. Shine

Tonya Moten Brown

Tonya Moten Brown has served as vice chancellor for administration at the University of Texas System since 2002. As the primary authority on administrative matters related to UT System Administration operations, Ms. Brown oversees the offices of operations and support services (including travel, accounting and purchasing services, and airplane operations), employee services (including employee benefits and retirement), information and technology services, compliance, policy and the director of police.


Ms. Brown came to the UT System from the University of Minnesota. During her five years at Minnesota, Ms. Brown served as chief of staff in the office of the president. She was named vice president and chief of staff in 2000.


Ms. Brown previously served as an assistant dean at the University of Texas School of Law from 1993 to 1997.


Prior to her career in higher education, Ms. Brown was in private legal practice in Houston, Texas.


Ms. Brown earned a Bachelor of Science degree in economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1983 and her J.D. from the Law School at the University of Texas at Austin in 1987.
