Tonya Moten Brown

Tonya Moten Brown has worked with Chancellor Yudof since 1993, when he was dean of the School of Law at U.T. Austin. She was assistant dean for admissions at the law school from 1993 to 1997.

 

She went with Yudof to the University of Minnesota when he became president of that institution in 1997. She served as chief of staff in the office of the president from 1997 to 2000 and as vice president and chief of staff from 2000 to 2002.

 

Brown earned a bachelor's degree in economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1983 and a doctorate of law from U.T. Austin in 1987.

 

She worked as an attorney in commercial litigation for the Houston law firm of Wickliff & Hall from 1991 to 1993 and the Houston firm of Butler & Binion from 1987 to 1991.
