Jeremy's Story
The future looks bright for Jeremy Patton, a 22-year-old senior from Waxahachie, who looks to start his own apartment locating business after he earns a degree in international business.
His accomplishments would not have been possible without financial aid, which allowed him to be a full-time student and develop his extracurricular and leadership skills, including serving as president of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity.
“I chose UTSA because it seemed like a place where I could make a difference and make my mark,” Jeremy said. “I did not want to go to a school where I would just get lost in the mix of things.”
Jeremy joined UTSA’s first “Leadership Challenge,” a national student leadership program, where he and other students helped raise nearly $1,000 for cancer survivors through various fundraising efforts.
For Jeremy, the effort hit close to home. His sister, now a freshman in college, was diagnosed with a brain tumor when she was in third grade. After undergoing chemotherapy, the cancer was in remission, but returned when Jeremy was starting classes at UTSA.
“She’s doing fine now, just doing online classes trying to catch up,” Jeremy said.
With a bright future ahead, he hopes to return to UTSA one day to pursue an Executive MBA or enroll in the Global MBA Program in the UTSA College of Business.
