Freda's Story
The strong reputation of the College of Business led Freda Wilson to UT Tyler, and the financial aid options made attending possible.
“I started hearing about how good the business program was, and when I came to visit I liked the campus, plus I was told I could get different kinds of financial aid,” said the native of Lufkin, a mere 84 miles south of Tyler.
A freshman accounting major, Freda earned high scores in high school in pursuit of college scholarships because she knew financial aid was an important factor in her plans for college. Without it, she probably wouldn’t be able to go.
One of four children, Freda also works on campus and serves as a tutor to help cover her higher education costs.
