UT SELECT Medical now provides 100% coverage for Preventive Screenings

Free Preventive Care and Services – The UT SELECT Medical has always offered robust preventive care benefits including 100% preventive colonoscopy and no cost immunizations for children under 6 years of age. Now, with the implementation of health care reform, beginning September 1, 2011, certain additional preventive care and services will be available to you with no copayment or coinsurance as long as you see a network provider and meet certain screening eligibility requirements. The Gym Membership Discount program is available to all UT SELECT Members.

Important Reminder

UT FLEX Grace Period and Claim Filing Deadline. The UT FLEX Grace Period allows UT FLEX Health Care Reimbursement Account participants an additional 2 ½ months each year (September 1 through November 15) to incur eligible expenses at the end of the plan year. By incurring eligible health-related purchases or services during the grace period, UT FLEX medical participants can avoid forfeiting any leftover funds from the 2010-2011 plan year that ended on August 31, 2011. Get Your Flu Vaccination with your UT SELECT Benefits

Flu season is here, and as of September 1, 2011, flu shots and nasal flu mist are covered 100% under the UT SELECT medical plan when services are received from a participating Blue Cross Blue Shield provider. 

To make flu vaccines more accessible, effective November 1, 2011, UT SELECT will also cover the full cost of the vaccine at retail pharmacies that participate in the Medco network.  To find a retail pharmacy where you can get the vaccine, call Medco at 1-800-818-0155 or visit www.medco.com. You must present your UT SELECT/Medco prescription card for 100% coverage of the flu vaccine. A prescription is NOT required and the vaccine is not subject to the prescription plan deductible. If you present your UT SELECT/Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) medical ID card to the pharmacy, the pharmacy will require payment and you will need to submit a paper claim to BCBS for reimbursement. On November 15, 2011, the University of Texas System will introduce a new and improved offering of mutual fund and annuity products for the UT Optional Retirement Program (ORP), UTSaver Tax Sheltered Annuity (TSA) and the UTSaver Deferred Compensation Plan (DCP). 

The UT System worked in close partnership with the UTRetirement Program Providers to develop a line-up of best-of-class funds in each appropriate investment category. What does this mean for you?

Flu is a serious contagious disease that can lead to hospitalization and even death. CDC urges you to take the following actions to protect yourself and others from influenza (the flu):

  1. Take time to get a flu vaccine.
  2. Take everyday preventive actions to stop the spread of germs.
  3. Take flu antiviral drugs if your doctor prescribes them.
