Legislative Update
The Supreme Court issued a decision June 28 to uphold the Affordable Care Act (ACA) meaning all of the provisions previously communicated by the Office of Employee Benefits (OEB) will remain in place.
Provisions of ACA relevant to the 2012 – 2013 plan year are:
- Preventive care and services. The UT SELECT Medical plan offers a robust list of preventive care benefits. Effective September 1, 2012, preventive care available at $0 out-of-pocket cost for members will expand once again to provide greater coverage for women’s health services include prescription contraceptives. - UT FLEX Health Care Reimbursement Account Elections. As reported in the June Annual Enrollment issue of the newsletter, the UT FLEX Health Care Reimbursement Account Election limit will remain $5,000 for the 2012 – 2013 plan year. As the guidance is currently written, the election limit for future plan years (beginning September 1, 2013 for UT FLEX) will be $2,500.
