Annual Enrollment Election Period Over

Annual Enrollment, the period when you can change your group insurance benefit elections and add or remove dependents from your coverage without a qualified change of status event, ended July 31, 2011. If you made an annual enrollment election, you should have received a confirmation statement email the next day. Review your annual enrollment elections on the confirmation statement carefully to ensure they are accurate.

You should also review the first earnings statement of the new plan year (typically October 1) to confirm that your coverage elections are correct. Contact your institution’s benefits office immediately if there are discrepancies between the coverage elections on your confirmation statement and the coverages shown on your earnings statement.

Reminder: Complete Evidence of Insurability (if required): Deadline August 15, 2011
During Annual Enrollment, if you elected to add or increase Voluntary Group Term Life (VGTL), Short or Long Term Disability (Disability), or Long Term Care insurance, completion of an Evidence of Insurability (EOI) form is required. For VGTL and Disability, you should complete the EOI form through the My UT Benefits website. Individuals enrolling in Long Term Care insurance will need to complete EOI directly through CNA. Please note, EOI is no longer required for enrollment in the UT SELECT Medical plan.

All EOI applications must be postmarked or completed online by August 15, 2011.

Notice! Special Enrollment Opportunity for Young Adults
As communicated in prior months’ newsletters and at Annual Enrollment events, Healthcare Reform’s Expanded Young Adult Coverage provides a special enrollment opportunity for family members whose coverage ended because they turned 25, got married (or were married during the initial enrollment period), or enlisted in the military. These individuals are eligible to enroll in UT SELECT Medical (EOI no longer required) through September 30, with coverage effective September 1, 2011.

Important! Supporting documentation of the parent/child relationship is required to add dependents to the plan.
