At the February 2012 Board meeting, the Regents approved allocations to fund new student awards.

The established awards will recognize outstanding achievement in the arts and humanities at UT System institutions. The arts and humanities enrich, enlighten, and inspire our students, promote creative expression, and in some cases provide professional careers. These annual awards will be given in one of four disciplines: musical arts, visual arts, poetry writing, and short essays. The first round of awards will be presented by the Board in 2012 and will recognize the musical arts. Awards will be given in two categories: a $1,500 award for an individual or duet performance, and a $2,500 award for a group performance.

This year's award recipients will be announced in May 2012. Nominations are now being accepted. Please visit academic affairs' dedicated student awards website for more information.
