Papers relate to the life and affairs of Hogg (1875-1930), attorney, businessman, and philanthropist, who was the son of Texas Governor James Stephen Hogg and resided in Houston and New York City. Material concerns his involvement with the city of Houston; The University of Texas, and other colleges and universities; the Texas Company and other oil and gas enterprises; insurance, banking, cotton, and other businesses; political affairs, including the impeachment of Governor James Edward Ferguson, Dan Moody's election as governor in 1924, and the Democratic National Convention of 1928 in Houston; his many philanthropies and philanthropic distribution of his estate; and deals as well with other members of the Hogg family.
