On April 14, 2008, H. Scott Caven, Jr., Chairman of The University of Texas System Board of Regents, announced the selection of the firm Greenwood/Asher & Associates, Inc. to assist the Board in identifying and screening candidates for the position of Chancellor of The University of Texas System.
Greenwood/Asher & Associates, Inc. has assisted in other University of Texas executive searches.
Dr. Jan Greenwood, President and CEO of Greenwood/Asher & Associates, Inc., will oversee the service contract with the Board of Regents.

THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS SYSTEM
The University of Texas System Board of Regents announces a nationwide search to recruit the next Chancellor of the System.
First authorized by the State Constitution in 1876, The University of Texas System is composed of 9 academic institutions (Arlington, Austin, Brownsville, Dallas, El Paso, Pan American, Permian Basin, San Antonio, and Tyler) and 6 health institutions (Dallas, Galveston, Houston, San Antonio, M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, and Tyler) and includes 4 medical schools, 2 dental schools, and 9 nursing schools. The System enrolls over 194,000 students, employs over 81,000 persons, and has an annual operating budget of almost $11 billion. The System also manages a $23.6 billion investment portfolio.
The University of Texas System faculty are consistently honored by their peers, professional associations, and other organizations for contributions to their academic fields and for their roles as outstanding teachers. Honors and distinctions among the System's internationally distinguished faculty include: 7 Nobel laureates, 1 Shaw laureate, 2 Pulitzer Prize recipients, 33 members of the National Academy of Sciences, 49 members of the National Academy of Engineering, 49 members of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, 27 members of the American Law Institute, 48 members of the American Academy of Nursing, 34 members of the Institute of Medicine, 9 members of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigators, and 36 members of the International Association for Dental Research.
As the Chief Executive Officer of the System, the Chancellor reports directly to the Board of Regents and is responsible for executing the policies and procedures of the Board. The Chancellor serves as one of the State's senior advocates for higher education and interacts extensively with elected officials; the business, educational, philanthropic, and professional communities; and the general public. Reporting directly to the Chancellor are the Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Executive Vice Chancellor for Business Affairs, Executive Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs, Vice Chancellor and General Counsel, Vice Chancellor for Administration, Vice Chancellor for External Relations, Vice Chancellor for Federal Relations, Vice Chancellor for Governmental Relations, Vice Chancellor for Research and Technology Transfer, Vice Chancellor for Strategic Management, and Executive Director for the Institute of Public School Initiatives.
