The University of Texas System with its 15 institutions and 185,000 students is the largest system of higher education in Texas and one of the largest in the country. The job of System Administration is to assist each of the institutions as they work to achieve excellence in education, research and health care.
To increase efficiency and generate economies of scale, we coordinate and enhance the efforts of individual institutions. We supply centralized services in areas such as management of public lands, legal advice on a variety of matters, development activities, acquisition of services and equipment, construction of facilities, and research and technology transfer. As the demand for higher education increases and our campuses grow, we provide strategic guidance and help them find the resources to support their goals. Through the use of an accountability program that has been deemed a national model, strategic planning and annual compacts, we constantly work to improve.
