Nancy A. Pasternack, CFE, CPA, CIA is the Education Director for the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners in Austin, TX. Ms. Pasternack is certified as a public accountant and an internal auditor. She specializes in fraud prevention and detection, and has also earned the designation of Certified Fraud Examiner. As the Education Director at the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, she overseas the coordination of conferences, seminars, and other aspects of the ACFE’s world-wide training. Ms. Pasternack came to Austin, Texas and the Association from Portland, Oregon where she had built a strong background in auditing, litigation support, and forensic accounting. Before joining the ACFE she was the Director of Anti-Fraud Services with Financial Forensics® specializing in forensic accounting and preventative education strategies for businesses. Prior to that she was an audit manager at Perkins & Company, Oregon’s largest local accounting firm where she led audit teams, fraud examinations, development of internal controls, design of internal audit programs, and more. She spent the early years of her career as an assistant state auditor in the Oregon Secretary of State, Audits Division, working with agencies such as the Oregon State Lottery. Ms. Pasternack graduated from Portland State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Business – Accounting and a minor in International Studies. She has co-authored fraud case studies and often guest lectures at universities. Nancy has also presented fraud training to the Federal Bureau of Investigation and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Nancy Pasternack is the past President of the Oregon Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and is an advisor to the Board of the Regional Economic Crime Investigation Center for the Pacific Northwest. She serves on the Steering Committee for the AICPA Fraud and Litigation Support Conference and the State of Oregon’s Target Fraud Conference.
