Steve Jung has just completed his tenth year as Director of Internal Audit and Institutional Compliance at Stanford University and the Stanford University Hospitals. In this capacity, he staffs the Audit and Compliance Committees of the University Board of Trustees and the Hospitals' Boards of Directors, and serves as the primary liaison for all external auditors working on the Stanford campus. He initiated Stanford's first institutional compliance initiative in 2000, and was named its first institutional compliance officer in 2001. In the past, Steve has served as Chair of the Association of College and University Auditors’ Government Affairs and Best Practices Committees, and was honored to be named recipient of the Association's Member Excellence Award in September 2000. Before joining the Stanford Internal Audit Department in 1986, Steve served 17 years as a Principal Investigator for government-sponsored research at the American Institutes for Research (AIR) in Palo Alto, California, and Bangkok, Thailand. Steve has bachelors and masters degrees from the University of New Mexico and a Ph.D. in educational research from Arizona State University.
