In his 12th year as director of athletics at The University of Texas at Arlington, Mr. Pete Carlon has been with the University since 1981, first serving as head athletic trainer. During Pete ’s tenure, the Maverick teams have won 45 team conference championships. He completed a two-year term as president of the Southland Conference and was chair of its executive committee in 2006 and served on the SLC executive committee as vice president/chair of the finance committee. Pete served on the NCAA Committee on Competitive Safeguards and Medical Aspects of Sports (1998-2000), Subcommittee for Drug Education and Testing (1998-2002), ten NCAA Peer Review Teams evaluating other Division I institutions and completed a term as president of the I-AAA Athletic Directors Association in 2006. He has been appointed to serve on NCAA Division I Academics Eligibility and Compliance Cabinet beginning September 2007.
