Dieter Lehnortt is the Assistant Vice President/Institutional Compliance Officer for the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. For the previous 7 years, he served as the Director of the Office of Billing Compliance for the university, with responsibility for monitoring provider and hospital adherence to the laws, regulations and policies governing professional/hospital billing and coding activities. Previously, Dieter served as the Director of Physician Reimbursement for the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), a national medical specialty society representing emergency physicians. He was responsible for research and analysis of policy issues pertaining to physician reimbursement, as well as for providing support to physicians and hospitals on state and national reimbursement and coding policy issues. While at ACEP, he coordinated the organization’s efforts during the national conversion to the Medicare RBRVS-based fee schedule. He was also a contributing author to Mosby’s Emergency Department Management: Principles and Applications book. Dieter earned his master's degree in Political Economy from the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) in 1982. He has over 23 years of billing compliance, health care policy, physician practice management and billing/coding experience. |
