Ms. Carrie King

Carrie A. King, J.D., is the Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer for The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center where she is responsible for the operations of the Internal Audit Department as well as the Institutional Compliance Office, which is comprised of privacy compliance, research compliance, billing education compliance, and general legal and regulatory compliance functions.

 

In her role as the Chief Compliance Officer, Carrie guides M. D. Anderson’s activities regarding the institution’s commitment to conduct all business with integrity and in compliance with the letter and spirit of all local, state, and federal laws, rules, and guidelines.

 

Carrie not only provides the institution with guidance and legal counsel regarding compliance matters, she also enforces M. D. Anderson’s Institutional Code of Conduct; directs all privacy-related as well as fraud and abuse-related activities and investigations; and interacts with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, legislative bodies, and governing boards regarding compliance initiatives.

 

Carrie attended Texas Tech University and graduated from the Texas Tech University School of Law. She has served as an attorney in the Office of Hearings and Appeals for the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services; the Office of General Counsel for The University of Texas System; and in-house counsel for the Insurance Corporation of America.

 

Carrie has served as the committee chair for a number of different University of Texas System compliance-related committees charged with identifying and expanding compliance program best practices across The University of Texas System.
