Ms. Juliann Tenney

Juliann Tenney is the first Director of the Duke University Institutional Ethics and Compliance Program (IECP). Ms. Tenney is charged to develop and implement an overarching process that will identify institutional risk and exposure, ensure that appropriately authorized personnel are responsible for remediation and monitoring, provide education and training in all aspects of compliance, and more. Ms. Tenney was recruited from her position as an Associate Dean at the Duke University School of Medicine where she designed and led the compliance initiative for six years. There the scope of responsibility ranged from issues relating to HIPAA implementation, conflicts of interest, regulatory affairs and auditing of clinical trials. Juli additionally serves on both advisory boards and boards of directors for several organizations ranging from financial to entrepreneurial and charitable. She serves as a senior instructor in the Duke Program in Nonprofit Management teaching seminars focused on all aspects of organizational structure. Ms. Tenney received a B.A. in English and History from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill and a law degree from Duke University. She is also a graduate of the Georgetown Institute for Comparative Political and Economic Systems.
