Each UT System institution has implemented a compliance
hotline that provides a confidential way for employees to report instances
of suspected wrongdoing in a manner that preserves anonymity and assures
non-retaliation. In addition, U. T. System Business Procedures Memorandum 67 and
State law prohibit retaliation against any employee who,
in good faith, reports an instance of suspected wrongdoing or participates
in an investigation pertaining to allegations of wrongdoing.
To report
suspected compliance violations of any kind, including
violations related to the ethics policy, financial reporting, internal
accounting controls, or audit matters, talk with your supervisor, contact
your institution's Compliance Officer or Manager or another appropriate
official, or call your institution's compliance hotline (see
Institution Hotline Numbers).
Employees
are encouraged to address compliance concerns through
their institution’s normal administrative channels. However,
if you are not comfortable reporting the situation to
your institution and want to contact System Administration
officials about the matter, please report the situation
to the System-wide Compliance Officer at compliance@utsystem.edu or
by phone at 512-499-4390, or call the System-wide Compliance
Hotline at 1-888-228-7786.
The System-wide Compliance Hotline
is operated 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. You can
anonymously report information to a trained professional who will ask
you questions. A report will be provided to the System-wide Compliance
Officer, the Vice Chancellor for Administration, the Executive Vice
Chancellor for Business Affairs, and the Vice Chancellor and General
Counsel within one business day of your call. All reports are investigated
and addressed as appropriate.
All calls are accepted by the hotline.
However, the System-wide Compliance Program is not
intended for handling employee grievances, such as complaints
concerning working conditions, performance evaluations,
hours of work, wages, or merit raises, and only compliance-related
issues will be investigated. These complaints should
be addressed by talking with your supervisor or following
your institution's greivance procedures.
