C.J. Wolf, MD, CPC, CPC-H, began his work in the UT Systemwide Compliance Office
as Assistant Systemwide Compliance Officer in June of 2009.
Prior to joining the UT System, Dr. Wolf was the Director for Billing Compliance at
The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston from 2006 to
2009, where he was responsible for directing the institution’s compliance with
federal, state, and institutional billing rules and guidelines. He was a key contributor
to the development of the strategic vision for: (1) billing compliance education and training; (2) conducting and overseeing billing compliance audits; (3) serving as
an
in-house expert on billing compliance issues; and (4) overseeing the operations of the Billing Compliance section of the Institutional Compliance Office comprised of managers, supervisors, educators, auditors, and assistants.
Before joining M. D. Anderson, Dr. Wolf served in various senior consulting and management roles at Intermountain Healthcare, a nonprofi t health system based in Salt Lake City with more than 30,000 employees. As a Senior Coding Consultant, he provided auditing services and education to the physicians, clinicians, technologists,
billing staff, and financial employees of the 21 hospitals, numerous clinics, and health insurance plans, which are all a part of Intermountain Healthcare. He became a manager within the Ambulatory Coding and Reimbursement Department and assisted the system with the revenue cycle and chargemaster functions as well as appropriate coding and reimbursement under Medicare’s Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS). Additional areas of experience gained from his seven years at Intermountain Healthcare include coding expertise in Interventional Radiology, Cardiology, Respiratory Therapy, and Evaluation and Management Coding.
Dr. Wolf received his medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine and his bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University in Provo, UT. He is a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) and Certified Professional Coder – Hospital (CPC-H) by the American Academy of Professional Coders. Dr. Wolf has a passion for teaching and has designed and taught numerous workshops, classes and seminars in addition to serving as adjunct faculty in anatomy, physiology, coding and compliance at Salt Lake Community College.
