The University of Texas System is committed to providing the public and policymakers information about how the System and its 15 campuses are addressing goals and priorities and how the UT System measures progress. The UT System’s innovative and trend-setting accountability report, now in its fourth year and considered a national model, is posted online each year and presents the most comprehensive statistical portrait ever developed for Texas higher education institutions. Additionally, annual operating budget summaries and annual financial reports for each institution are published online by the UT System’s Office of the Controller.
In this same spirit of transparency and to further demonstrate our fiduciary responsibility to the public, each institution of the UT System has created Expenditure Transparency Reports. The reports, which detail expenditures such as salaries and wages, maintenance and operations, and travel, can be accessed by fiscal year and institution. Cumulative quarterly reports are available for the current fiscal year with annual reports available for prior fiscal years.
The reports represent a detailed, categorized listing of all expenditures reported in each institution’s accounting system. Expenditure types listed align directly with the categories maintained in the internal accounting systems.
The reports do not present financial information in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Both capital purchases and depreciation, the systematic allocation of the cost of long-lived assets, are presented. Internal activities within the universities such as university operated service departments or revolving accounts have also been preserved for full transparency.
