Dr. Randa S. Safady |
As the UT System’s vice chancellor for external relations, Randa
Safady leads the offices of development and gift planning services,
public affairs, community and business relations, communications, and
special services. She coordinates all of the System's relationships and
communications with the news media, business and community leaders and
organizations, foundations, and current and prospective donors, and she
serves as the System’s chief development officer. She works directly
with all 15 UT institutions, as she provides strategic and administrative
leadership to their respective offices of development and public affairs.
Previously, Safady held several development positions with increasing
responsibilities at UT
Austin, culminating in the position of associate vice president for resource
development.
When appointing her,
Chancellor Mark G. Yudof said, "Randa Safady is a visionary
leader with a wealth of experience in university administration.
She's recognized nationally for her expertise in fundraising,
having been involved in UT
Austin's hugely successful capital campaign that has raised over
$1 billion dollars for the university." Chancellor Yudof continued,
"She is well known to donors, foundations and businesses who
contribute enormously to the higher education enterprise in this
state, and she understands the importance of building and maintaining
strategic alliances for the support and benefit of our institutions
through communication and outreach."
Prior to her service at UT Austin,
she was director of corporate, foundation and governmental relations at St.
Edward's University in Austin from 1987 to 1996.
Safady earned master's and bachelor's degrees from Southwest Texas
State University, now Texas State University, and a doctoral degree
in higher education administration from UT Austin.
