John and Erika Langmore are proud members of:
They were both born and reared here. They first met in high school in
San Antonio. They both earned degrees from the University of Texas at
Austin — John a BBA, MBA and law degree and Erika a bachelor’s degree in
studio art.
After law school, John worked for a Washington, D.C. law firm, then for
Caterpillar. With Caterpillar’s worldwide operations, the Langmores
traveled widely, living in Australia and Singapore. John served as legal
counsel for the company’s Asia-Pacific region and Erika worked for the
Singapore American School.
When they were offered the chance to come back to the United States, the
company headquarters in Peoria, Illinois, wasn’t close enough to home.
The Langmores and their two sons — now 5 and 8 — moved back to Austin in
2003. Here, John works as a transportation and land-use consultant for his
own company and Erika runs a busy household.
They also became members of the UT System’s Chancellor’s Council.
"Everything I have comes from the University of Texas — all my great
opportunities," John Langmore says. "I’m obliged to give back. Education
represents the future. It gives people every tool they need to succeed in
life."
"Education is about the future we want for our society," Erika Langmore
says.
"It’s about more than just UT Austin," John says. "I appreciate the UT
System. All the UT campuses around the state are important if we want
an educated population.
"Coming back here is coming home. For us, it’s all about Texas."
