The System continues to be a national leader in public higher education with an aggressive strategic plan to enhance student success; increase research, global competitiveness, and technology transfer; improve health in Texas; enrich society through arts and cultural contributions; improve productivity and efficiency; and assure integrity, accountability, and public trust.
Without the generous support of alumni and friends, achieving these goals and maintaining a rich heritage of academic excellence would be impossible. Private support has always been integral to the System’s success, but it’s more important than ever now. The state budget now provides less than 18 percent of the System’s annual operating budget and this percentage continues to decrease.
Gifts to the UT System allow the Chancellor to meet unforeseen challenges and to provide seed money for important strategic initiatives. Endowment gifts help the Board of Regents attract and retain the highest level of executive leadership for one of the largest public university systems in the United States.
