Training of Trainers (TOT) sessions were held Spring, 2009 for the newly adopted English/Spanish Language Arts and Reading (E/SLAR) Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).
The TOT sessions provided district and Education Service Center (ESC) trainers with the knowledge and materials necessary to provide professional development for the K-12 Language Arts and Reading teachers as we transition to Texas’ new curriculum standards. The training included the English Language Arts and Reading Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (ELAR TEKS), the Spanish Language Arts and Reading TEKS (SLAR TEKS), the English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS), and the College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS). The trainings were divided into five distinct sessions:
Session 1: Kindergarten through Second Grade (English)
Session 2: Third through Fifth Grades (English)
Session 3: Sixth through Twelfth Grades (English)
Session 4: Kindergarten through Second Grade (Bilingual)
Session 5: Third through Sixth Grades (Bilingual)
Trainers attended one of the five sessions.
