Welcome to JAMP
Letter from the Chair
The Joint Admission Medical Program (JAMP) was created by the Texas Legislature in 2001. The program was created to assist economically disadvantaged students in acquiring the knowledge and skills to be a competitive applicant for medical school. This state-wide program that encourages students desiring a career as a physician offers exceptional opportunities including mentoring, summer enrichment programs with clinical experiences at one of the Texas medical schools, scholarships during college and medical school and ultimately, guaranteed entrance into one of the Texas medical schools.
The first undergraduate students joined JAMP in 2003 and subsequently entered medical school in 2006. The first group of JAMP students are now nearing completion of their residency education and looking forward to practicing medicine in a variety of specialties.
If you are interested in becoming a physician, I encourage you to take a look at JAMP! It is a unique and exciting program offering both academic and personal assistance with preparation for entering the medical profession.
Information regarding qualifications for acceptance, the application process, important deadlines, program requirements as well as additional information can be found in the Students section above.
Thank you for your interest in JAMP.
