U.T. System Board of Regents to Hold Special Open Meeting

The Board of Regents of the University of Texas System will hold a special open meeting in Austin Tuesday and Wednesday, January 13-14.

The meeting will consist of a series of workshops to discuss long-term issues related to the U.T. System's six health institutions.

An overview of issues affecting the health institutions will be presented by Dr. Charles Mullins, executive vice chancellor for health affairs, and each institutional president will make a presentation.

Topics to be discussed include strategic plans and missions, enrollments, fiscal resources, faculty and staff development, plans for academic, research and patient-care programs, physical plant maintenance and repair, operating efficiency and effectiveness, and private fund raising issues.

Similar workshops for seven of the System's nine general academic institutions were held last September. Workshops involving the two remaining academic institutions (U.T. Arlington and U.T. Dallas) are scheduled for February 11 in Austin.

Next week's workshops will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday and will resume at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

They will be in the West Salon of the San Jacinto Ballroom at the Four Seasons Hotel, 98 San Jacinto Blvd., Austin, Texas.

The attached schedule shows the day and time for each institution's presentation.
