UT Vice Chancellor Named Fellow of American Nuclear Society

 

AUSTIN – Dr. Dale E. Klein, vice chancellor for special engineering programs for the University of Texas System, has been named a fellow of the American Nuclear Society.

He was cited by the society for outstanding leadership on nuclear waste policy and nuclear materials stewardship issues; his research on thermal characteristics of spent nuclear fuel shipping containers; and scientific, technical, and managerial supervision of the construction and operation of the U.T. Austin research reactor.

Klein, a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at U.T. Austin, also is executive director of the Amarillo National Resource Center for Plutonium. The research center is under the direction of a consortium of the U.T. System, the Texas A&M University System, and Texas Tech University.
