Public Forums Scheduled for Chancellor Search
AUSTIN Six public forums have been scheduled around the state so that a committee of the Board of Regents of the University of Texas System can receive comments on the search for a new chancellor.
The forums are part of the process that the board has adopted for the selection of a successor to Chancellor William H. Cunningham, who has announced that he plans to step down by the end of August 2000.
"We are interested in hearing from any members of the public who may have views about the qualities and characteristics that we should be looking for as we search for a chancellor who will lead the U. T. System into a new century of service to Texas," said Tom Loeffler, vice chairman of the board. Loeffler, a regent from San Antonio, chairs the subcommittee that is conducting the forums.
"We will also be pleased to receive comments from the public about the selection process, as well as nominations of individuals for the position," he said.
The schedule for the meetings is as follows:
Other members of the subcommittee are Rita C. Clements of Dallas, Patrick C. Oxford of Houston, and Raul R. Romero of Houston. |
