Biography: Geri Malandra

Dr. Geri Malandra

Geri Malandra serves as associate vice provost in the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost at the University of Minnesota where she works on academic policy, planning, and accountability issues. Her responsibilities include: preparing the university's primary accountability document, its annual University Plan, Performance, and Accountability Report; managing academic program review policies and the submission of academic program proposals for Board of Regents' approval; coordinating institutional accreditation, and developing the university's legislative accountability reports on academic priorities and partnerships.

 

Before joining the provost's office in 1999, she served as head of the Department of Professional Development and Client Relations in Continuing Education, and earlier, as director of faculty and research development in the College of Liberal Arts. Prior to her work at the University of Minnesota, she was assistant director for government and public affairs at the National Federation of State Humanities Councils.

 

With an interdisciplinary Ph.D. in ancient studies, and as an adjunct member of the University of Minnesota History Department, Malandra's scholarly focus is the art, religion, and history of ancient India and the Near East. Originally from the east coast, Malandra spent part of her childhood in Houston and moved to Minnesota as a college student. For relaxation, she runs, hikes, and studies ballet.
