Statement Regarding Los Alamos National Laboratory |
| The attached statement
was issued today by The University of Texas System regarding Los Alamos
National Laboratory. News media should attribute the statement to
the U.T. System, rather than to an individual. U.T. System officials
do not plan to make further comment at this time.
Given the prominence in advanced research and significant contributions to the nation's security of the Los Alamos National Laboratory, The University of Texas System has followed developments with great interest. We are eager to see the details of DOE's vision for future management of national labs and a request for proposal for the LANL management contract in 2005. A decision to pursue the management contract will be dependent on extensive discussions within the U.T. System, with our 15 component institutions, with the U.T. System Board of Regents, the Department of Energy and others. |
