Regents to Meet in Austin May 12-13

The Board of Regents of the University of Texas System will meet Wednesday and Thursday, May 12-13, in Austin. The meetings on both days will be on the 9th floor of Ashbel Smith Hall, 201 W. 7th Street.

Parking for the news media will be available at the guard kiosk on Colorado Street between 7th and 6th Streets.

On Wednesday, board committee meetings will begin at 9:00 a.m. The full board will convene at approximately 3:45 p.m. for its annual meeting with the UT System Student Advisory Council.

On Thursday, the meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. Agenda items include:

• A briefing on legislative issues.
• An update on the activities of the National Center for Educational Accountability by Mr. Tom Luce, chairman of the board of directors.
• A report by the Washington Advisory Group concerning how best to expand research at academic institutions within the UT System.

The meeting will then recess into executive session , beginning at approximately 11:00 a.m., to discuss personnel, real estate, and legal matters. The agenda includes discussion related to the presidential searches at UT Dallas and UT Pan American.

Any action required on those matters will be taken in public at approximately 12:00 p.m.
