Board of Regents to Meet in Austin March 10

 

The Board of Regents of The University of Texas System will conduct a special called meeting of the board on Thursday, March 10, in Austin. The meeting convenes in open session at 9:00 a.m. and will take place on the 9th floor of Ashbel Smith Hall, 201 W. 7th Street.

 

Parking for the news media will be available at the guard kiosk on Colorado Street between 7th and 6th Streets.

 

Out-of-town reporters may view the open session via a live webcast at mms://media1.utsystem.edu/bor031005. Please make note that you will need Windows Media Player to view this webcast.

 

Agenda items include:

  • Discussion and appropriate action regarding proposed tuition and fee proposals. UT campuses submitted tuition and fee proposals to the UT System for review in January. Any tuition and/or fee increases approved by the board will be effective in fall 2005 (separate advisory to follow)
  • Discussion on higher education funding
  • Preview of the Economic Impact Study (separate advisory to follow)
  • Discussion of correctional healthcare services provided by UT Medical Branch Correctional Managed Care, including a report of the Texas Medical Foundation
  • Discussion and appropriate action regarding presidential search procedures, including recommended amendment of the Regents' Rules and Regulations

The board meeting will recess into executive session to discuss legal and personnel matters at approximately 1:30 p.m. Any action will be taken in open session.

 

The board meeting will adjourn at approximately 3:00 p.m.
