Statement Regarding Press Reports on UT Austin President William Powers Jr.'s Employment Status
AUSTIN – The University of Texas System Chancellor Francisco G. Cigarroa, M.D., issued the following statement today (May 10) regarding a blog report stating Regents’ Chairman Gene Powell asked Chancellor Cigarroa to recommend that UT Austin President William Powers Jr. be fired from his position.
Statement from Chancellor Cigarroa:
"The Chairman of the Board of Regents has never directed me to fire anyone."
