Chancellor drafts letter regarding guns on campus legislation
Chancellor Francisco G. Cigarroa has sent a letter to Governor Rick Perry regarding legislation relating to the presence of concealed handguns on university campuses. The letter was also delivered to Lt. Governor David Dewhurst, House Speaker Joe Straus, Chairman Joe Pickett of the House Homeland Security & Public Safety Committee and Chairman John Whitmire of the Senate Criminal Justice Committee,
The letter reiterates Chancellor Cigarroa’s concerns outlined in a 2011 letter to Governor Perry when the issue was last before the legislature.
