UT Southwestern will host a Health Fair that encourages the community around us to learn about their own health status, healthy life choices and have family fun while participating.

The day will be a "Celebration of Health" and will provide members of our community who may be disadvantaged or from a low socio-economic status household to benefit from free health screenings, cooking demonstrations, health educational booths and presentations, vaccines, science exhibitions and a carnival of interactive games. We also have recruited members of the Dallas Fire Department to be at the school with an ambulance, as well as the Care Flight helicopter and crew for public viewing. We are very excited about the event and what it will offer to the community.

Spring 2008

In celebration of the UT System's United to Serve Day, the University of Texas at El Paso is participating in several volunteer activities that will benefit and enhance the El Paso community. The first of these activities is a large-scale neighborhood clean-up project in Sunset Heights, an older El Paso neighborhood and historical area which borders the UTEP campus. The second scheduled activity is the 26th Annual El Paso Senior Games, which is a series of competitive athletic events for seniors 50 and older. The top five finishers in each age group within each event can advance to the Texas State Senior Games. These Games present seniors with a great opportunity to stay active and have fun. Both activities will give UTEP students, faculty and staff an opportunity to join with other El Pasoans in a spirit of volunteerism and community.
