Please join us for a 10 minute walk on February 10th at 10am (Central) to celebrate Heart Month. We will gather at each of our institutions as one UT System community to raise awareness about heart health. All participants will receive a collector’s 2016 UT System Heart Walk pin.

You can find out where the meeting location is at your institution on the Living Well website at www.livingwell.utsystem.edu/heartwalk.htm.

This American Heart Month, the UT System Living Well program challenges YOU to know your blood pressure. And, if it’s high, we challenge you to work toward getting it under control.

Uncontrolled high blood pressure is a leading cause of heart disease and stroke. In fact, more than 67 million Americans have high blood pressure. Did you know people with high blood pressure are 4 times more likely to die from a stroke and 3 times more likely to die from heart disease, compared to those with normal blood pressure?

High blood pressure often shows no signs or symptoms, which is why having your blood pressure checked regularly is important. It's easy to get your blood pressure checked. You can get screened at your doctor's office and many drugstores, you can check it yourself at your institution's blood pressure stations, or you can even check it at home using a home blood pressure monitor.
