Welcome to the digital home of The University of Texas System Office of External Relations. Our office is responsible for communications and interactions between the UT System and national and statewide news media, current and prospective donors, business and community leaders, civic organizations, and other external constituents.
External Relations is organized into four service areas:
External Relations also assists and collaborates with the 15 UT institutions and UT System offices by providing strategic communication support, news and public information services, and assisting both internal and external audiences in gaining access to a large array of UT System resources. The office also provides executive communication and news and public information services for the UT System and coordinates official functions and programs for the Board of Regents and the Chancellor of the UT System.
External Relations supports significant fundraising initiatives across the UT System by providing experienced counsel and centralized functions in areas pertaining to gift acceptance, endowment management, compliance and stewardship, gifts not conforming to policy, non-cash gifts, naming opportunities, and estate and trust administration. External Relations provides annual assessments of the fundraising programs for each of the 15 institutions, identifying areas of strength and areas needing improvement to increase philanthropic support.
External Relations manages activities of the Chancellor’s Council, a statewide group of individuals who provide financial support to UT institutions and the UT System, to serve as ambassadors for higher education and health care in Texas.
