There are seven main offices that carry out the mission of The UT System, oversee administration operations, assist the 15 institutions, and support the Board of Regents and the Chancellor.

Academic Affairs works regularly with the presidents of the nine academic institutions, ensuring that the missions of the institutions are advanced and that appropriate plans and programs are developed and implemented. The responsibilities of the office include oversight of administrative and policy issues related to the general academic institutions and monitoring a wide range of issues related to higher education policies and practices.

The Office of Health Affairs works regularly with the presidents of the six health institutions. Of the six health institutions, four are health science centers which offer a wide range of degree programs and two are specialty tertiary hospitals with outpatient clinical services. All are engaged in medical research, education and patient care.

The Office of Business Affairs works with business officers at the 15 institutions in setting and complying with policies and procedures for all business operations and management.

The Office of General Counsel performs basic legal services for System administration and the UT institutions and coordinates and assists in litigation services provided by the Attorney General's Office and outside counsel. It also serves as administrator of the UT System medical liability self-insurance plan and as ethics adviser for the System.

Governmental Relations Website
The Office of Governmental Relations monitors governmental affairs affecting higher education and interacts with state and local governments on behalf of the System and its institutions. In collaboration with other UT officials, as well as other higher education entities, the office works closely with legislators, legislative staff and state agencies on a wide variety of issues.

The Office of External Relations assists the 15 UT institutions with fundraising programs and provides support for estate and trust administration, endowment review and management, and gift analysis and acceptance. The office coordinates all interactions with the media and the external community on behalf of the UT System and coordinates official functions and programs for the Chancellor and the UT System.

Strategic Initiatives Website
The Office of Strategic Initiatives is responsible for providing leadership to coordinate key System initiatives, streamline reporting requirements and track the progress and impact of the UT System strategic plan. The office oversees the development and production of the annual Facts and Trends report and the UT System Accountability and Performance Report, which includes information on the 15 institutions’ academic, health care and service missions and emphasizes measures such as student outcomes, research, faculty productivity, clinical care and efficiency.
