Omar Syed is the Section Manager of the General Law Section of the Office of General Counsel, where he specializes in employment, tort and civil rights law.
Mr. Syed received his BA with honors in Public Policy Studies from The University of Chicago, and received his JD from the University of Minnesota Law School. After law school, he practiced administrative law and civil litigation as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Minnesota. Mr. Syed then prosecuted federal narcotics crimes, violent crimes and economic crimes as an Assistant United States Attorney in Minneapolis. Immediately before joining the Office of General Counsel, he practiced oil and gas law with a private law firm in Austin, Texas.
Mr. Syed is admitted to practice in Texas and Minnesota, before the U.S. Supreme Court, the Fifth and Eighth Circuit Courts of Appeals, and the U.S. District Courts for the District of Minnesota and Western District of Texas.
