Jason King

Assistant General Counsel, Legal Expert & Deputy Ethics Advisor

Jason King is the Deputy Ethics Advisor to the System and provides guidance on a number of issues; including conflicts of interest, nepotism, gifts, honorarium, and political activity. He also coordinates the Office of General Counsel’s interaction with the Office of Governmental Relations during legislative sessions. 

Before joining the Office of General Counsel, Mr. King represented cities with the law firm of Akers & Boulware-Wells LLP, where he served both in a litigation capacity and as city attorney for a number of small to medium sized cities throughout Texas. Mr. King has also previously served as an Assistant General Counsel of the Texas Ethics Commission.

 Mr. King graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, and received his law degree from Baylor University.
