Patent and Trademark

The Intellectual Property Section was created within the OGC to centrally manage Board intellectual property. With regard to patentable properties, the section assists with assessment of patentability and the preparation, filing, prosecution, issuance, and maintenance of patents in the US and abroad as well as the supervision of outside counsel. The section also facilitates technology transfer, following the Series 90000: Intellectual Property Policy of The University of Texas System to guide administrators, faculty and staff of component institutions concerning the development, use, ownership, management and marketing of intellectual property.

The UT Trademarks are registered in the United States Patent and Trademark Office and with the State of Texas. Many are registered in foreign countries.
