Job Purpose To protect the life and property of employees and visitors on University of Texas System property. To enforce the rules and regulations.
Education and experience required including training, registration, and licensure. High school diploma or GED equivalent and three years of experience as a security guard. A valid Texas driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. Knowledge and skill in operation of radio communications equipment, computerized security alarm systems, CCTV monitors and police vehicles.
Supervision provided to others. May provide supervision to guards.

1.

Ensure all personnel entering the complex are properly identified. Issue visitor permits and maintain a log of all issued permits. Provide directions to locate buildings and offices and other general information to visitors.

2.

Patrol buildings and grounds on foot or in vehicle to provide security and prevent crime. Check for unauthorized subjects, fires, and water leaks. Alert the appropriate personnel of safety hazards.

3.

Report irregularities, emergencies, or suspicious activity to the Office of the Director of Police. Write reports on incidents occurring at the complex.

4.

Check parking permits on vehicles entering parking garages. Issue temporary parking permits. Directs the flow of traffic and parking of cars as needed.
5. Operates police radio, dispatches, monitor fire and intrusion alarm system and CCTV. Make appropriate reports.
6. Assists in training guards and providing back-up supervision, as assigned.
7. Perform related duties as required.
