Job Purpose To respond to Open Records requests and administer cost issues of public information; provide administrative services and paraprofessional legal support to staff attorneys. 
Education and experience required including training, registration, and licensure. High school diploma or GED equivalent with a minimum of 4 years records management or open records experience required with legal assistant certification or bachelor’s degree and 1 year records management or open records experience.

1.

Answer open records requests.

2.

Administer cost issues of public information in accordance with Government Code, Chapter 552, Subchapter F.

3.

Work closely with staff to review and determine need for request

4.

Review and make determination on governmental bodies’ requests for exemption from cost rules.

5.

Investigate and resolve complaints of overcharges for copies of public information.

6.

Participate in the legislative process, appearing as a resource witness on open records/public information bills.

7.

Perform administrative duties and paraprofessional legal support to staff attorneys for contract claims.
