SUMMARY

Purpose/Scope:   To serve in a leadership role in performing all aspects of oil and gas accounting, auditing, and analytical assignments involving the verification and reconciliation of lease agreements and contracts to enhance revenues of University Lands.  Provides customer service support and analyst supervision. 

 

DUTIES

 

Essential Functions:

·         Performs desk, company and field audits to monitor compliance with oil and gas leases.

·         Assists oil and gas lessees with filing of production reports.

·         Performs non-routine analyses and reporting projects as assigned by supervisor.

·         Contacts lessees to resolve compliance issues.

·         Assists in maintaining quality control to ensure the integrity of accounting records.

·         Assists in monitoring internal policy compliance.

·         Reconcile ledgers to verify that royalties have been remitted and discrepancies addressed. 

·         Formulates and recommends new policy and operating procedures to supervisor.

·         Negotiates routine conflict resolution and provides assistance in matters requiring a higher level of authority.

·         Participates in company audits and field inspections as assigned.

·         Supervises, evaluates and trains new analysts.

 

Other Functions:

·         May evaluate, train, and assist in the supervision of Associate and Oil and Gas Analysts.

·         May assist in the preparation of financial statements.

·         May assist in the design and implementation of new computer systems.

·         May assist in legal matters as requested.

·         Other duties as assigned.

 

SUPERVISION

 

Received:         Work is performed under general supervision of supervisor with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment

 

Provided:         Provides leadership and supervision of specific projects and personnel as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education:       Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or a related field.

 

Experience:      Five years of oil and gas accounting or other relevant accounting experience.

 

Knowledge, skills and abilities:  Advanced knowledge of University Lands’ oil and gas accounting operations.  Ability to analyze applicable local, state, and federal ordinances and laws and the Board for Lease Rules and correctly apply them as they pertain to University Lands.  Ability to interpret and apply policy and procedures.  Ability to train and motivate other staff members.  Ability to communicate clearly and professionally.  Work independently.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in an office setting.  Some outdoor activity and travel is required.
