Phillip B. Dendy |
Phillip B. Dendy, CRM, has served as Director of Risk Management for The University of Texas System (the UT System) since 2003. The Office of Risk Management (ORM) is responsible for providing comprehensive services including risk analysis, risk control, risk financing and claims management to the UT System, its nine academic and six health institutions.
From 1999-2003, Mr. Dendy served as Director of Business Administrative Services which included the property and casualty insurance programs as well as facilities, accounting and purchasing, property management, travel, and airplane operations. From 1995-1999 he served as Associate Director for Workers’ Compensation Insurance.
Mr. Dendy has approximately 25 years in the insurance and risk management industry. He began his professional career as a multi-lines claims adjuster with an independent adjusting firm in Lubbock, Texas.
In 1989 he moved to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and served in positions from Loss Control Representative to Regional Manager. He was appointed Director of Workers' Compensation Insurance for TxDOT in 1993.
Mr. Dendy earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from Texas Tech University. He is active in professional organizations and currently serves as Chair of the Professional Development Committee for the University Risk Management and Insurance Association (URMIA).
ORM is specifically responsible for oversight, direction and administration of Workers' Compensation Insurance, Comprehensive Property Protection Program, Rolling Owner Controlled Insurance Program, Unemployment Compensation Insurance and traditional insurance purchases. ORM coordinates system-wide environmental, health & safety, emergency response, business resilience, and claims coordination.
In addition, Risk Management is responsible for risk management information systems, accounting and fund administration for the aforementioned self-funded programs and the Professional Medical Liability and the Directors and Officer/Employers Practices Liability programs.
