Javier Garza is the Assistant Director for Workers’ Compensation Insurance (WCI), in the Office of Risk Management (ORM) at The University of Texas System (the UT System). Mr. Garza is responsible for administering the UT System WCI Program from its office locations in Austin, Dallas, Houston, and El Paso. The WCI Program provides coverage to the nine academic institutions and the six healthcare institutions of the UT System. The WCI Program also provides necessary and reasonable medical coverage and disability benefit payments to employees sustaining injuries or occupational diseases while in the course and scope of employment.
Mr. Garza graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Texas State University. He has been a part of the UT System staff since 1987 and has over 20 years of professional management experience in the insurance industry with an emphasis in workers’ compensation.
ORM has become a premier public workers’ compensation program in the state of Texas by utilizing unique and innovative risk management programs to provide superior service to all UT System employees. By working collaboratively with the injured employee, the employing institution, and the healthcare providers; the UT System WCI team effectively manages claims, controls costs, and expedites return-to-work.
