Fire Life and General Safety Advisory Group
The U.T. Fire Life and General Safety Advisory Group (FLAGSAG) is comprised of representatives of the Institutions and various System offices. Each Institution is represented by the individual with institutional responsibility for occupational health and safety.
Mission
The FLAGSAG mission is to provide advice and recommendations to the University of Texas System (UTS) Environmental Health and Safety Advisory Committee (EHSAC), to support the development and implementation of appropriate programs in furtherance of occupational health and safety. To serve as a mechanism for a free exchange of information and cooperation among the Institutions and various System offices with occupational health and safety issues. The FLAGSAG will support and facilitate cooperative efforts related to occupational health and safety that are beneficial to the Institutions and the UTS. These efforts will include the dispersal of information relative to: compliance with applicable occupational health and safety codes, standards, regulations, and safety education and training programs in order to promote a safe work place and environment for faculty, staff, students, patients, and visitors.
Goals
- Emphasize and enhance communication and cooperation among the Institutions and various System offices concerning occupational health and safety issues.
- Review, evaluate and recommend regulatory compliance strategies.
- Encourage and promote the hiring of well-qualified occupational health and safety staff.
- Identify, recommend and pursue opportunities to facilitate collaborative efforts that will benefit the Institutions and the UT System.
